Dell Studio Laptops
Dell Computers, originally
founded as PC’s limited, is a multinational
company manufacturing PCs and other related
products. Dell grew in the 1980s and 90s to
become the biggest seller of PCs and servers.
As of now, it is the 2nd biggest manufacturer
of PCs, next only to HP. Dell also made it to
the 25th and 34th position of the Fortune 500
list published in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
Michael Dell, a student at
the University of Texas, found this company
by the original name in the year 1984, using
a capital of $1000. The startup aimed to sell
IBM-PC computers built using stock components.
After Michael Dell got another $300000 from
his family for expansion, he dropped out from
his university and started working full time.
The first computer, designed
completely by the company, was launched in 1985
under the name of “Turbo PC”. The
model was a success, and the company made $73
million in its very first year.
The company was renamed “Dell
Computer Corporation” in 1989. It kept
growing, with the 1st operation in Ireland set
in 1988; 11 other international operation ensued
in the next 4 years. By 2002, it had started
selling digital audio player, television and
handhelds. Hence, with the approval by all stockholders,
the company changed its name to “Dell
Inc.” in 2003, to recognize its products
as ranging beyond computers.

In
spite of a few hitches like poor customer services,
and the New York Supreme Court ruling that the
company “engaged in fraud, false advertising,
deceptive business practices, and abusive debt
collection practices”, the company continues
to grow and launch new products with great quality.
Hence buying a Dell product, or investing in
it, does not seem to be a wrong choice in the
present.
